We don’t chase signal anymore — we manifest it

Once upon a time, before 2014, 2G was truly 2G.

It was slow, sure — but at least it was honest. We knew the limits. You could start downloading a song, go make chai, and return to find it halfway done. Simpler times.

Then came the so-called Telecom Revolution.

We went from 2G to 3G, then 4G, and now 5G — each one marketed as the dawn of a new era. Except most of us are still standing on terraces, phones raised to the heavens like ancient signal seekers, whispering:

“Hello? Hello? Can you hear me now?”

Ironically, every year we gain a new “G,” but lose a little more actual signal. It’s like India’s own scientific phenomenon — the linear reduction of connectivity with the exponential increase of hype.

And now? We’re hearing about 7G and 8G — maybe next year we’ll have “Infinity G”, where the connection transcends physics but still won’t connect your call.

Meanwhile, my phone proudly displays that timeless notification: “No Network.”

A phrase so powerful, it unites an entire nation.

Because in India, every telecom upgrade comes with its own buffering symbol — round, endless, and full of hope.
